It's Starting Again
Knowing that this will be his last chance, my husband is really hoping to foist the middle name of St. John (Sinjin) on this child should it be a boy. The question is -- will I be insane enough to agree?
This one has an air of wisdom about him. You would do well to heed him.

He'll be mercilessly teased as a child by his peers, who will mispronounce his name. Teachers won't get it either, which is -- in some ways -- worse.
As a personal matter, I can never hear the name without thinking of Jane Eyre's stern missionary cousin, which implies a certain measure of drama and angst.
I can't see putting that all on a child. But that's just me.

You can use them or not, or just use the initial!

Besides, children should not be given names that they will always have to spell, repeat, explain, or defend.
Very late to the party, but I'm pleading a matzah hangover. I will only point out that Saint John (with sinjin pronunciation) was the late brother of the lead character on this ancient tv series.
Useless trivia continues its relentless assault on my brain cells.
