Take Him Home. He's Yours.

One of the most terrifying things in the world is when the nurses hand your your baby and tell you to take them home. How can you alone be in charge of such a tiny person? It is an awesome responsibility, but well worth the effort. And so I'm happy to report that Josef got to go home and now the fun really begins.

That is such wonderful news to hear. Here's to sleep less nights and 2am feedings!

I remember being absolutely terrified when the nurse came in to tell us it was time to take Daughter home. We had a second-hand car seat (which we later discovered was not up to safety standards of the day) which would not recline far enough to keep her head from flopping around, even with one of those little donut things. I sat in the back seat with her, trying to hold her head still around the corners, and thinking to myself, "I have no idea what I'm doing! I'm going to kill this child before she's a week old! What idiot said it was OK for me to be her mother????"

(Nick went out and bought a new car seat the next day.)
