Experiments All Around

For a while now, The Baby has been participating in some different studies at the Vanderbilt Infant Cognition Lab. Today she did one study and The Boy did another. The Girl got an hour of free babysitting and enjoyed having someone play with her alone. I love signing up for these things. I also enjoy saying that I'm sending my kids off for medical experiments as if we were in Monty Python's Meaning of Life.

It's the little things.

Yeah, but are they creating a little cash IN-flow, rather than the typical outflow that kidlets are known to cause? Or are you doing this for the advancement of science and human understanding?

Show me the money!

Marc, mostly I'm doing it for the hour of free babysitting and the joy of a reason to get us out of the house. Plus I find it rather fascinating.

The Boy did get a $10 gift certificate to Target for his study though. We haven't gotten to go spend it yet, but he has big plans for that card. It will be interesting to watch him discover how little $10 will buy.

That sounds rather like the way my son likes to leeringly tell people that he does muscle work for his Russian uncle who has an import business. Makes it sound like he beats up people who aren't paying for those Marlboros with the Russian tax stamps on them which are going around. Actually he unloads crates of perfectly legitimate product.
