The Boy looks at me with a piercing glance. "What if Daddy is sneaking in and eating all the cookies instead of Santa?"
"Why would you think that?"
"If Santa were real, he would notice that The Middle Girl and I fight all the time and we'd get coal in our stockings. We always get presents."
See!? That's what you get for going and teaching him to be all logical and all!
Obviously, Santa is just trying to keep peace--if they both got coal, it would immediately start a fight as to who started the fights in the first place, which would be an even bigger fight than the fights that led to the coal delivery. So, Santa is just being wise. And, obviously, is easily bribed with cookies.
