They Are Always Trying To Prove Us Wrong

The Boy, on architecture: Dad, you know how you said that modern architects and builders have no taste and build ugly buildings? What about the new symphony hall? It's pretty.

And he's right. We're looking forward to getting our first peek inside when the children's symphony series starts next month.

Wow--nice pile of bricks you got there! Boy's got a pretty good eye, although I see he's more Robert A.M. Stern than he is Frank Gehry.

Did you expect that the boy would be anything other than a traditionalist, at least at this age when he actually thinks his parents have some taste and intellect?

I see that Robert A.M. Stern designed my other favorite public building in Nashville -- our downtown library. Definitely my kind of modern architect.

Baltimore's Symphony Hall is much more modern in style, but I like it too.
