It's Been a Great Five Years

Over five years ago, my husband turned to me one day and said, "I think we should get a blog." And I said, "A what?"

He'd been reading Andrew Sullivan and Instapundit and figured he could blog too. So he signed up on Blogger and started his own little blog. We started out all high brow and foreign policy and current events related, but when Justin left the government job and doing work requiring billable hours, I took the whole thing over.

Unfortunately, because of some trouble with an unreliable host we lost some of the middle blog years, but still five years ago today, Justin posted the first post Curmudgeonry post ever. I didn't write my first post until March 6, when I made fun of Alec Baldwin after having been subjected to one too many viewings of Thomas and the Magic Railroad.

And here we are now...

WOW!! You did a new look too! We bloggers must have spring fever. I swear, I think I've seen about 5 new blog faces this past week. I love it. Love it. Sorry you are frustrated getting it to work. I haven't a clue where to begin when it comes to designing.

And a fabulous job you have done with it, and I am rather grateful as it helped me keep in touch!
Why does it seem like your blog has been around for much longer? Did you have a personal website before that?

Five years! Wow!
That's nigh on forever in blog years. Congratulations on sticking around so long.

Five years ago was a magic time in blog-world. We should have candles, don't you think? :-)

Happy Blogiversary!

I'm also approaching my fifth in a few months. I remember when Curmudgeonry was the "hot new blog" and feeling a little bit jealous for the attention it was getting. I got over it pretty quickly. After you've experienced the fickle nature of the blogosphere you tend to appreciate whatever attention happens to come your way and just worry about your next post.

Maybe the anniversary can inspire "Mr. Billable Hours" for a post?!?

Very pretty and fresh. I'll point out that those are flowers you've painted.

Congratulations! I'd miss you if you were to move on.

Yes, yes, happy blogiversary! And many many many more! Five IS a long time. Glad you're still here!

Jordana, the flowers are gorgeous, of course, but not especially curmudgeonly =) Not that I disapprove!
