Curmudgeonry: What Form of Apples?

Should I make an apple pie or apple cranberry cobbler? I can't decide.

I'd go for the cobbler because it's more colorful.

It was a fondness of my old father's that I suppose I've inherited. He was raised in upstate New York, so I guess that's close enough.
