Thai Cuisine

My six year old loves Thai food. His favorite, most often requested, location to eat out is a particular Thai restaurant on the other side of town. For some reason, although I can cook decent Chinese food and my Indian food is awfully tasty, I've never been able to make decent Thai food.

Now I have a Thai basil plant growing extremely well and I want to try again. I need some new recipes or suggestions for good Thai cookbooks. What, dear readers, can you recommend?

Chez, I'd love to see the recipe! And I'm going to check and see if my library has that Thai cookbook. Checking cookbooks out from the library has become my favorite way to preview them before I buy any more, since I'm running out of room and have bought several with little in them that I liked.

As for the Thai basil plant, I got it at the Farmer's Market we have here in Nashville. Places like that are a great way to lay your hands on plants, especially, herbs that you can't find at the regular home centers. I'm not a big grower of plants from seed unless I can throw the seeds on the ground in the fall or winter and forget about them.

No recommendations from me, but I would be interested in knowing how you've developed curious palates in your children. Were they born this way, or do you have certain house rules that promote adventurous eating?
